Agitated Hawk Goes On Attack, Injuring Two In Fairfield County

An agitated hawk has attacked at least two people and there have been another five complaints, according to Bridgeport City officials.

The hawk first attacked and injured a man around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday in the area of 2200 East Main Street, officials said.

Another person was attacked and injured later in the day and admitted themselves to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment.

Since then, the city's emergency dispatch center has received five additional complaints regarding the bird beginning around 5 p.m.

The Bridgeport Police Department Animal Control officer has responded to the scene and has called upon Beardsley Zoo professionals for help.

Officials with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) have also been contacted to assist with locating a possible nest and/or trapping the hawk to safely remove and relocate.
